SWITZERLAND Geneva - 2024
UNIGE, University of Geneva
The University of Geneva (UNIGE) offers leading-edge education in sustainable agriculture, combining natural sciences, agricultural technologies and resource management.
UNIGE’s agriculture programme trains experts able to meet the challenges of food production while addressing environmental concerns. Students acquire skills in applied research, sustainable soil and crop management, and technological innovation in the service of agriculture.
Thanks to its multidisciplinary approach, UNIGE prepares its graduates to play a key role in transforming the agricultural sector, integrating sustainable solutions for a greener future.

FUTURE OF GROW

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND
2024
Equipping the two new plant biology research rooms with suitable lighting and custom stainless steel shelving.
Lower energy consumption
Lighting suited to humid areas and misting
Custom shelving and lighting

A smart, state-of-the-art installation
50% reduction in energy consumption.
Same light level maintained
48 independent control zones
As part of this project, we implemented a twofold optimisation of energy consumption:
Custom manufacture of stainless steel shelving to optimise growing space.
Integration of a switch and a dimmer on each shelf, creating 24 test zones per grow room.
Each climate chamber was fitted with custom LED tubes (in terms of length, mounting and power) to ensure perfect light uniformity. The shelving, custom-designed in Switzerland, comprises 24 removable trays, each fitted with its own switch and dimmer, making it possible to create 24 test zones simultaneously.
Thanks to the dimmable drivers and LED tubes with click connectors, this innovative configuration allows the research team to upgrade its equipment easily, whether with optional LED bars offering different spectra or by installing a central controller.
To ensure full compatibility with the existing infrastructure, we designed a custom solution. This included developing UV-resistant drivers, brackets, cables and click connectors for quick, flexible installation. The design is intended to simplify long-term maintenance, with components that are all individually replaceable.
At F.O.G, every component of our grow lights can be replaced in the event of a failure, making for an economical and sustainable solution. This approach allows growers to carry out the work themselves, reducing maintenance costs while ensuring optimal use over the long term.
With F.O.G, benefit from an innovative solution, custom-designed to meet the requirements of your infrastructure, while making your energy consumption as efficient as possible.
